  1. This plan is an insult to the citizens of Port Royal. The new medians planned for Ribaut road are ridiculous. The 200+ accidents on Ribaut road over the last several years were all in an area where no new medians are planned. These 700 k enhancements do not include the repaving of Ribaut road. What is evident is that this plan is some hair brained, ill conceived method of back door condemnation of existing business and a gross violation of property rights. If you can get rid of a car wash, storage facility, trailer park etc.., then you will get rid of the undesirable people who patronize such business. The town has not been able to support restaurants(three have closed in the last 4 months, one was in the new architecturally correct Port Royal center). The town wants less renters and more owners, fair enough, why dosen't the town and county support the concept opf affordable housing? It appears that the Town Manager(Van Willis)is intent on rebuilding the town as some sort of tourist attraction. "Build it and they will not come". The empty restaurants and office space indicate that this is a failed management philosophy in the town of Port Royal. Is every home in Port royal for sale? At first blush, due to high number of for sale signs in town, it would be easy to mistake Sing Pappas as the mayor...her name is every where. Looks like Port Royal is a town in trouble. The Council should consider the firing of the town manager for incompetence. If the council and mayor fail to act, perhaps the citizens should fire them at the ballot box.
