Residents looking for an Oktoberfest celebration with aLowcountry twist can head to Port Royal,where organizers are substituting shrimp for sauerbraten and country music for an oom-pah band on Saturday.
"We don't have a big German community in Port Royal, so we're throwing a southern version of the celebration," said Jeff Barnes, chairman of the Port Royal Old Village Association, the organization conductingthe event.
