ABOUT THE RACE
5,000 rubber floating shrimp will be dropped into the Beaufort River adjacent to the Waterfront Park. Each shrimp will have a unique number 0001 through 5,000. The shrimp will float naturally with the tide toward a trap at the finish line, possibly directed by boons to keep the shrimp floating on the racecourse. The first 10 shrimp to cross the finish line receive the following cash prizes:
1st Place…..$2,000.00
2nd Place.....$1,000.00
3rd Place…….$750.00
4th Place…….$500.00
5th Place…….$250.00
6th Place…….$100.00
7th Place…….$100.00
8th Place…….$100.00
9th Place…….$100.00
10th Place.…..$100.00
In addition, the top 10 finishing Shrimp have a chance to win a $100,000.00 cash prize if their shrimp number correctly matches the randomly selected number by Odds On Promotion, a third party insurance company, prior to the start of the race.
Adopted Shrimp numbers will be randomly selected at least 30 minutes prior to the start of the race and will be immediately posted at the site of the race and then later on this website.
Race results will be announced at the conclusion of the race at Waterfront Park, and then later on this website. You do not need to be present to win. If you are a winner you will be contacted by a member of the Sea Island Rotary Club to claim your prize.
